What is UEFI / LEGACY (BIOS) boot?
UEFI and LEGACY are different boot methods for Windows. Legacy, as the name implies, is an older method replaced by the newer, more secure UEFI boot system. UEFI has been standard for over 10 years, so we default to setting up drives using UEFI.
Do I need LEGACY boot?
Most likely not, but the older your machine, the more likely you’ll need it. To check your boot mode, you can use the “msinfo32” command on Windows 8.1, 10, or 11, or check your BIOS. If unsure, contact us with your machine’s details for assistance.
Will your Windows 11 SSD drives work if my Laptop or PC doesn’t meet requirements?
Yes, our pre-installed Windows SSD Drives allow booting and running Windows 11 regardless of hardware support. However, continued Windows 11 functionality isn’t guaranteed. If uncertain, choose Windows 10. Additionally, we don’t recommend Windows 11 for machines supporting only LEGACY boot mode due to performance reasons.
Which Microsoft Windows edition do I need?
Check your computer settings or original purchase receipt for Windows edition information. Choosing the correct edition ensures successful activation of your new Windows installation.
Can I use your drives if I’m running Windows 7 Home/Pro or Windows 8/8.1?
Unfortunately, Microsoft has closed this upgrade path since November 2023. You must have had Windows 10 or 11 activated on your machine to use our preloaded drives. Otherwise, you’ll need to purchase a license key for Windows 10 or 11.
Any website that tell’s you that this is still possible, or competitors that say this is still possible are unfortunately not telling the truth or are out of date.
Will your SSD fit in my machine?
Our SATA 3 SSDs with a 2.5-inch form factor and 7mm height are compatible with most laptops and desktops. For desktops, you may need a drive caddy for installation. Contact us with your device model for guidance.
How do I install the SSD?
Our SSDs are plug and play. Simply replace your existing drive, boot up, answer setup questions, and connect to the internet for automatic driver download and Windows activation.
Will my computer run faster with your SSD?
Replacing a traditional hard drive with our SSD will result in speed gains, with the extent depending on your machine’s age. Contact us for advice if unsure about your machine’s performance.
Shipping & Returns
Shipping: All orders are dispatched using Royal Mail Tracked 48, aiming to deliver within 2-3 working days. However, please note that delivery times may vary due to Royal Mail’s service.
We also offer the following shipping options:
- Royal Mail Tracked 24: £1.95 (aims for next working day delivery, not guaranteed)
- Special Delivery: £5.95 (guaranteed 1 working day delivery, including Saturdays)
Dispatch: Orders are dispatched the same day if payment is received before 3pm (Monday – Friday).
Returns: We offer a 30-day no-quibble returns policy. If you decide you no longer require your purchase, please return the drive in its original packaging for a refund. Buyer is responsible for return postage, unless item is defective.
